Cookie Policy
Effective date: 2026-08-15
Last updated: 2026-08-15
This Cookie Policy explains how SimplyNoise, operated by Reactor LLC, uses cookies and similar browser storage on our website and web app. It supplements our Privacy Policy, which describes how we handle information generally.
TL;DR: We use no advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking. Most of what we store is kept in your browser's local storage so the app remembers your settings. If you have not turned diagnostics off, our analytics provider sets one cookie holding an anonymous identifier. You can turn that off in Settings → Diagnostics or clear it in your browser at any time.
1. What cookies and browser storage are
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser and sends back on later visits. Browsers offer two related mechanisms, local storage and session storage, that hold data on your device but, unlike cookies, are never transmitted with requests. We use all three terms below to describe exactly where a given piece of data lives.
2. What we do not use
- We do not use advertising or retargeting cookies.
- We do not use cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not sell or share data with advertisers or data brokers.
- We do not use session replay or screen recording.
- We do not fingerprint your device or browser.
3. Strictly necessary storage
These are required for the site and web app to work, and cannot be turned off from within the app:
- Preference storage (local storage). Your soundscape preferences, mixer settings, favorites, timer history, theme choice, and other UI preferences. This never leaves your device.
- Cached audio and app assets (service worker cache). Audio and application files are cached so playback works offline and pages load quickly.
- Security and load-balancing. Our servers may set a short-lived cookie to protect against abuse and to route requests correctly.
4. Analytics storage (optional)
If you have not opted out of diagnostics, our product analytics provider PostHog stores an anonymous identifier so we can tell one browser from another across visits. Depending on your browser, PostHog keeps this identifier in a cookie (named `ph_*`) as well as in local storage. It is not linked to your name or email address, and it is not an advertising identifier.
Section 5 of our Privacy Policy describes what analytics events we collect and why. Crash reporting via Sentry is covered there as well; it does not rely on cookies.
Turning it off. Analytics and crash reporting are optional. Disable them at any time in Settings → Diagnostics in the app. Doing so stops new analytics events and opts the analytics cookie out of capturing.
5. Store and payment cookies
Ordering from our website store involves cookies set by the store platform and by PayPal, our payment processor. These are necessary to keep your cart and complete a transaction, and are governed by PayPal's privacy statement. We do not receive your payment card details.
6. The mobile app
The iOS and Android apps do not use cookies. They store preferences and cached audio on your device and, unless you have opted out, use an anonymous analytics identifier, as described in sections 3 and 5 of our Privacy Policy.
7. Managing cookies and stored data
- In the app: turn analytics and crash reporting off in Settings → Diagnostics.
- In your browser: every major browser lets you block or delete cookies and clear site data for a specific site. Blocking strictly necessary storage will cause the web app to forget your settings and may break offline playback.
- Do Not Track / Global Privacy Control: we do not use advertising cookies, so there is nothing to suppress for advertising purposes.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision.
